Don and Irene Morris’s story is a beautiful testament to family, faith, and community. Married in 1952, they spent many decades creating memories with their three daughters, Pam, Susan, and Donna, along with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Together, they built a life centered around love, commitment, and service.

Don, a proud US Air Force veteran, served from 1951 to 1955 before dedicating many years to his work as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service. His heart for service didn’t stop there—he was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church, serving on several committees, and he remained committed to his community as a member of the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Masonic Lodge. A true son of Washington County, Don was born and raised here, and he was a proud graduate of Salem High School in 1948. He cherished attending the basketball and football games, always rooting for his hometown teams.

Irene, who moved to Indiana as a young teen, graduated from Campbellsburg High School in 1950. A homemaker at heart, Irene spent countless hours nurturing her family and tending to a garden that blossomed every year. She later worked in the Bradie Shrum Elementary School cafeteria and as a cashier at Salem Middle School, all while being an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Irene served in many roles, including being a long-time member of the United Methodist Women and helping prepare countless meals for the church family.

Together, Don and Irene created a home filled with faith, laughter, and love, raising their children on a farm just west of Salem. Their contributions to their community and church have touched countless lives, and their legacy of service and generosity continues to inspire all who know them. Through their story, we are reminded of the importance of family, faith, and giving back to the places that shaped us.
