Align Southern Indiana (ASI)

Align Southern Indiana (ASI) is a nonprofit regional initiative uniting leaders and organizations from Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott, and Washington Counties to create long-term, shared success for Southern Indiana. ASI ensures that our region’s key stakeholders—from education, business, nonprofit, and government sectors—are all working toward the same goals.

By breaking down silos and coordinating efforts, ASI helps communities use their resources wisely, avoid duplication, and fill critical gaps in services. Through collaboration, ASI strengthens our region’s ability to address complex challenges such as education, workforce readiness, health, and quality of life.

Our Mission

To actively facilitate a shared regional process that will align resources, address needs and produce sustainable solutions resulting in our region achieving its potential as a best place to live, work and play.

Our Story

The groundwork for ASI began in 2015, when leaders from the community foundations serving Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington Counties and Metro United Way convened regional leaders to study local needs and opportunities. This effort—originally known as the Cradle to Career Quality of Life initiative—grew into a five-county collaboration involving community foundations, chambers of commerce, schools, and higher education partners.

In 2017, the group formally established Align Southern Indiana as a regional 501(c)(3) organization. Since then, ASI has brought together leaders across counties to align resources, track progress, and measure outcomes that matter to families, businesses, and communities.

Why It Matters

The challenges facing our communities are too big for any one organization to solve alone. Align Southern Indiana provides the structure, leadership, and shared vision to make lasting, regional change. Together, we are building stronger connections, better opportunities, and a brighter future for everyone who calls Southern Indiana home.

Further setting the work apart from others is the focus on creating system change to issues long impacting the healthiness of its citizenry.  Align concentrates on undertaking long plaguing problems, meaning solutions require much more than a one-time band aid fix.  Many of the outcomes resulting from initiatives implemented will be years in coming to fruition.  When those outcomes are realized, the problem ceases and a new normal created for years to come.

For most, patience to see these implemented programs change behavior proves too much; the expectation is immediate results.  However, those results are not likely to see the much-needed long-lasting change to the region.  Align is proud to be one of the few non-profits working toward forever change.  The type of change produces comprehensive, sustainable impact exemplifying the best of the region.
