Not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something and those somethings add up. In this case, the somethings are a couple of dollars out of each paycheck for Salem Community Schools employees that choose to give to the Salem Community Schools Giving Tree Fund.
Students in Rebecca Hardesty’s Salem Middle School 8th grade math class will be studying graphing by making sun catchers showing a fun way of showing reflection rules in graphing.
Jennifer Maudlin’s Salem Middle School Life Skills will also be utilizing Sun Catchers, but in a way to study butterflies. Students will study the life cycle of butterflies in a habitat, which they will plant and then fill the habitat with caterpillar growing kits to watch the insects transform into butterflies.
Students in grades PreK-5 will be using new hand-on, literature-based extensions to enhance speech and language therapy. This will enable therapists to move beyond drill-based practice and instead use books and resources to create engaging, meaningful learning experiences with interactive activities.
Jessica Morgan and Amy Abner are teaming up to help students studying 6th grade Civics create First Amendment buttons. Students will be studying the judicial system and will then design and create buttons that show their knowledge of the Amendment.
