The leaders of the Salem Football Association decided to start a scholarship fund, believing that it was important to demonstrate to the players they supported that academics is also very important. It didn’t take them long to decide to name the scholarship after Bailey Hamilton, who continually demonstrates the spirit of sportsmanship, honest competition and positive thinking, despite being confined to a wheelchair. The Bailey Hamilton Scholarship will be awarded to a Salem High School senior who meets the following criteria:

1. 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale
2. Played football or functioned as a football manager senior year and at least 2 other high school years (At least two years must be at Salem High School)
3. Head football coach recommendation based on leadership, sportsmanship and demonstration of being a good teammate.
