There will be a public meeting for any non-profit organization wishing to apply for a grant from the Washington County Community Foundation. The meeting will be held on August 10, 2005 at 7:00 pm at the Community Learning Center. Judy Johnson, Executive Director of the Foundation, commented, “This is wonderful opportunity for any group wishing to apply for a grant. We will discuss our grant criteria, guidelines, application process, deadlines and reporting process. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. Our goal is that by the end of the meeting, all potential applicants will have a strong understanding of the process.”
This type of grant is issued from the Washington County Community Foundation’s Touch Tomorrow funds. “This is the second of two grant cycles for this year.” commented Johnson. “We have several named Touch Tomorrow funds that will be issuing grants for the first time and we hope that the local non-profits will take advantage of these opportunities.” The total amount available for this grant cycle is $25,000.00.
In addition, the Foundation will also offer a small grant from the Charlotte Martin Memorial Fund. This fund supports the transportation of cancer patients for treatment. Any non-profit organization wishing to apply for this grant should attend this meeting.
Grant applications for the spring grant cycle will be available at the public meeting on the 10th or by contacting the Foundation office. The application deadline will be 4:00 pm, September 19, 2005. For more information, you may call Judy Johnson at the Foundation office. The number is 883-7334.
