CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO HONOR WOMEN The very presence of this sixth annual Southern Indiana Woman in Philanthropy Regional Celebration speaks of a collaborative spirit among its hosts--community foundations that serve Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Orange, and Washington counties. Giving from the Heart moves the lifeblood of a community. Generous contributions of time, talents, and financial resources make places of work, play, and community service stronger. People are touched because of the philanthropic spirit hailed as unique to Americans. The sixth annual brunch and program will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, the Showroom, Elizabeth Indiana. Last year’s event attracted more than 500 guests. Given the sixth anniversary of the event, planners expect up to 600 this year at the celebration that involves six southern Indiana counties. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS X 2 The public is invited to nominate outstanding Indiana women for the distinction of the 2010 “Woman Philanthropist” and the 2010 “Emerging Woman Philanthropist”. The Emerging Woman Philanthropist is targeted specifically for women philanthropists less than 40 years of age. Over the past five years 44 southern Indiana women have been honored for their philanthropic efforts. The completed applications are due to the Community Foundations by July 14, 2010. An independent committee appointed by each of the Community Foundations of Crawford, Harrison, Orange and Washington will select its county’s recipient. The Clark county and Floyd county honorees will be chosen by a committee of representatives of the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. Each Community Foundation will supply its own nomination forms. To request a nomination form, call the Community Foundation in the county of the nominee’s residence: Community Foundation of Crawford County--Bonita Embry Coots (President and CEO) at (812) 633-2077; Clark, and Floyd counties—Melissa Weissinger of the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana at (812) 948-4662 toll-free at 1-888-388-2374 or www.cfsouthernindiana.com.; Harrison County Community Foundation—Julie Timberlake at (812) 738-6668; Orange County Community Foundation--Imojean Dedrick (executive director) at (812)723-4150; and, the Washington County Community Foundation--Judy Johnson (executive director) at (812) 883-7334. The selection of each county’s 2010 Woman Philanthropist of the Year and the 2010 Emerging Woman Philanthropist of the Year will focus on those women who have a history of volunteerism with a significant and positive impact on people, organizations, and the community; have inspired others by their leadership; have supported the efforts of individuals by sharing time, skills, and experience; and also have financially supported charitable entities in the community and elsewhere. The 2010 honorees will be announced to the public in August 2010. Their philanthropic biographies will be featured at the October 2, 2010 event via a video montage and formal program emceed by Dawne Gee, WAVE-TV news anchor. Tickets for the event will go on sale in August, $30 per person and $375 for reserved tables to accommodate 10 persons. The tremendous successes of the programs over the past five years are indicative of the public’s excitement at celebrating its own outstanding servant leaders. “Women in Southern Indiana continue to be especially generous in giving of their time, talents and financial resources. We are pleased to recognize the contributions of outstanding Indiana women and in celebrating the honorees’ accomplishments,” stated Mike Waiz, President and CEO, Community Foundation of Southern Indiana.
