Foundation offers free seminars for nonprofit organizations

The Washington County Community Foundation will offer a series of free ¡§Brown Bag¡¨ educational seminars for local nonprofits. The first session is scheduled for March 19, 2009. ¡§Our goal is to work with our nonprofit partners and help them to build their capacity,¡¨ explained Judy Johnson, Executive Director for the Foundation. ¡§We will host two seminars in 2009. Each seminar will be informative and also offer great networking opportunities.¡¨

As Brown Bag sessions, each participant should bring their own lunch and drink. The foundation will provide dessert.

The March 19^th session will be: Designing and Marketing a Planned Giving Program

This session will explore the benefits to a nonprofit of starting a planned giving program and different types of planned giving vehicles.

Who should attend? Nonprofit staff and volunteers at all levels will benefit professionally and personally from attending.

You will learn about:

„h Various types of tools that can be used to facilitate giving beyond the traditional bequest

¡P Charitable Remainder Trusts

¡P Charitable Lead Trusts

¡P Gift Annuities

¡P IRA Rollovers

¡§The role of nonprofit organizations is critically important to the stability and growth of our community,¡¨ stated Johnson. ¡§This seminar will give them a framework to build their organization¡¦s capacity and take it to a higher level."
