The grant was used to renovate the Head Start building, located at 801 West Walnut.  Renovations included installation of a new ceiling in the kitchen, new insulation and drywall and upgrading the light fixtures.  By making these improvements, Head Start has eliminated the risk for mold and allergen growth, and improved sanitation processes in the kitchen.  The Salem Head Start serves approximately 40 children between the ages of 3-5 on an annual basis.
